I have the honour to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the Crown Agents for the Colonies, informing me that they propose to mulct me of 10% of my full Colonial salary for the period of my service under the Admiralty during the war. I understand that this is to be in addition to the sums already deducted from such salary, viz: --

A. The pay of my rank in the Navy (as per your letter No. 15738/1915 of 1 June 1915).

B. The Admiralty allowances received by me during the same period (in contravention of the above named letter).
